Firearmstrainingthat meets you where you are

Six subjects, 48 training topics and 210 classes a year, taught by NRA-certified instructors across three Central Florida locations. Concealed carry, basic pistol, advanced defensive work, home defense and maintenance — in a group class, or one-on-one.

Over 5,000 students trained. Not one review below five stars.

What we teach

Six subjects, from a first day on the range to advanced defensive work. Every one of them is taught to the same standard whether you take it in a group or on your own.

Each subject is drawn against the same rule below. The scale runs to eight hours — the length of the longest class we teach.

A student in clear safety glasses and ear defenders stands beside the target he has just shot, his pistol laid out on the bench

Concealed Carry Course

2hours

Built around the legal requirements the State of Florida sets for a concealed carry permit. We cover every subject the state requires, and everything else it takes to be a safe gun owner once the permit is in your hand.

Basic Pistol Training

4hours

A comprehensive class that gives you the knowledge and the skills to be comfortable with a firearm and a safe, qualified gun owner. Meets and exceeds Florida concealed carry requirements.

Advanced Pistol Training

8hours

For shooters who want to do more than put holes in paper at a fixed distance. Shooting while moving, working from behind cover, rapid draw, and the decisions that go with them.

The other three

A student stands at the range bench where two pistols and their magazines are laid out, his target hanging in the lane behind him

Refresher work, home defense and maintenance. Same instructors, same standard, whether you take them in a group or one-on-one.

Firearms Refresher

2hours

For anyone who trained a while ago, or who wants to sharpen skills they already have. Runs as a group class or one-on-one, and is built around one outcome: being comfortable with the firearm you keep at home.

Home Defense Situations

4hours

A scenario-based class that prepares you for a real event in your own home rather than a lane at the range — where you are, what is behind the target, and what happens next.

Cleaning & Maintenance

1hour

How to look after your firearm. Proper cleaning and care is the difference between a gun that works and a gun that works on the day you need it.

Two ways to
take any of it

Group classes run on a fixed daily schedule. Private sessions run on yours. The same NRA-certified instructors either way.

Group classes

Full through 30 September

Every subject above also runs as a group class, daily at 9:00am, in a small class setting that keeps the instructor's attention on each student.

Group classes are not booked through this website, and the schedule is full through 30 September. Call (407) 479-3790 for current dates, or take the same subject as a private session now.

Why people
train here

Over 5,000 students have come through our classes, and not one of them has left a review below five stars.

  • In-house certified instructors

Every class is taught by our own NRA-certified instructors, each with years of experience in firearm safety and operation. Nothing is handed off.

  • Training aids that earn their place

Multiple types of weapon, visual aids and printed material, so a new shooter can see and handle what is being explained before stepping onto the line.

  • A curriculum that starts with safety

Safety begins with the right attitude and the knowledge to support it. Our instructors make sure you are familiar with every aspect of handling your firearm before anything else.

  • A firearms specialist on staff

National Safety Center is a licensed dealer as well as a school, so questions about your own firearm get answered in the building.

  • Three Central Florida locations

The Maitland Training Center, the Mims Training Facility, and the Shoot Straight range in Casselberry. Advanced work runs at Mims.

  • Classroom work at home or on site

Prefer to take the theory portion at home, or as a group of employees in your own office? We can support that.
